Mahjong on Fate Round is built for four players in one shared room. New players can start with Simple Mahjong, then move into Hong Kong, Riichi, or MCR rules when the table is ready. Each player gets a concealed hand, takes turns drawing from the wall and discarding, and can call Chow, Pung, Kong, or Mahjong from eligible discards.
How it works
Fill the table
Exactly four players join with names and ready up.
Draw and discard
Take turns drawing from the wall, then discard one tile.
Call Mahjong
Complete four melds and a pair, seven pairs, or thirteen orphans before the wall is empty.
Game rules & how to play
Objective
- Be the first player to complete a legal Mahjong hand before the wall runs out.
- A standard winning hand is four melds plus one pair. Seven pairs and thirteen orphans also win.
- If nobody wins before the wall is empty, the game ends in a wall draw.
Setup
- Exactly 4 players join the room. Seats are East, South, West, and North.
- Simple Mahjong uses 136 tiles: three suits numbered 1-9 plus wind and dragon honors. Flowers are not included.
- Hosts can switch to Hong Kong, Riichi, or MCR rules before starting when the group wants a stricter ruleset.
- East starts with 14 tiles and discards first. The other players start with 13 tiles.
- Optional per-turn timers keep draws, discards, and calls moving.
Turn flow
- On your turn, draw one tile from the wall, then discard one tile from your hand.
- After a discard, eligible players may call Mahjong, Pung, Kong, or Chow.
- If nobody claims the discard, play continues to the next player.
Calls
- Mahjong: claim the winning tile from any player, or declare after your own draw if your hand is complete.
- Pung: claim a discard when you have two matching tiles in hand.
- Kong: claim a discard with three matching tiles, declare a concealed Kong with four matching tiles, or upgrade an exposed Pung when you draw the fourth tile.
- Chow: claim a suited sequence only from the player immediately before you in turn order.
- Kongs draw a replacement tile before the player discards.
Scoring
- Winning hands show a fan summary with pattern, bonuses, total points, and point deltas.
- The in-app scoring model rewards self draw, concealed hands, Pungs/Kongs, dragons, winds, flushes, all simples, seven pairs, and thirteen orphans.
