Word Tiles
The classic Scrabble-style crossword tile game — build words, hit the premium squares, outscore your friends.
Word Tiles on FateRound is a Scrabble-style crossword word game for 2–4 players on a full standard 15×15 board. Draw seven tiles, take turns building interlocking words outward from the center star, and rack up points — letters are worth their standard values, and double/triple letter and word squares multiply your score. Every word you form is checked against a real dictionary, so only valid plays count. Use a blank tile as any letter, swap tiles you do not want, or pass. When the bag is empty and someone uses their last tile, the game ends and the highest score wins.
How it works
Join a room
2–4 players join with their name — the host can play too.
Build words
Tap tiles from your rack onto the board to form words. The first word must cross the center star.
Outscore everyone
Hit premium squares for big points. Highest score when the tiles run out wins.
Game rules & how to play
Objective
- Score the most points by building interlocking words on a 15×15 board.
- Each letter has a point value; premium squares multiply letters and whole words.
Setup
- 2–4 players join a room. The host can play too.
- Everyone draws 7 random tiles onto their rack. Tiles stay hidden from opponents.
- The first word of the game must cross the center star.
Taking a turn
- On your turn, place tiles from your rack to form a single word (across or down) that connects to tiles already on the board.
- Every word you make — the main word and any crosswords — must be a valid dictionary word, or the play is rejected.
- Instead of playing, you can swap any number of tiles back into the bag (only while at least 7 tiles remain), or pass.
- A blank tile can be any letter (worth 0). Use all 7 tiles in one turn for a 50-point bonus.
Winning
- The game ends when the bag is empty and a player uses their last tile, or when everyone passes twice in a row.
- Each player subtracts the value of tiles left on their rack; a player who used all their tiles gains the total of everyone else’s leftovers.
- The highest score wins. Tap Play again to start a fresh game.

Frequently asked questions
- How many players do you need for Word Tiles?
- Word Tiles works with 2–4 players. Create a game on FateRound, share the link or code, and everyone joins from their browser — no sign-up required.
- Is Word Tiles free to play online?
- Yes. Word Tiles on FateRound is completely free — no download, no payment, and no account needed. Create a game and start playing in under a minute.
- Can I play Word Tiles on my phone?
- Yes. FateRound runs in any mobile browser. Share the room link in your group chat and everyone can play Word Tiles from their phone or desktop.
- How do trophies work in Word Tiles?
- Trophies are earned automatically as you play — things like finishing your first game, racking up wins, or hitting a milestone. Bronze, silver, gold, and platinum trophies are listed above with what they need; some are secret and only reveal themselves once you've earned them. Trophies and points carry over to your FateRound profile across every game.
- How are words checked?
- Every word you form — the main word and any crosswords it creates — is checked against a standard English word list. If any of them is not a valid word, the play is rejected and you can try again.
- How do blank tiles work?
- A blank can stand in for any letter — you choose which when you place it. It scores zero points but lets you complete words you otherwise could not.
- How do you play Scrabble?
- Each player draws seven letter tiles. On your turn you build a word on the 15×15 board, connecting to tiles already down (the first word crosses the centre star). You score the letter values, boosted by any double/triple letter and word squares your tiles cover, then draw back up to seven. Play until the bag is empty and someone uses their last tile — highest score wins.
- How does scoring work?
- Each letter has a point value, and premium squares multiply a letter or the whole word. Playing all seven tiles in one turn earns a 50-point “bingo” bonus. FateRound tallies every play automatically, so there’s no maths or arguing over the pad.
- Can I run a Scrabble tournament online?
- Yes. FateRound can run a Word Tiles tournament as a head-to-head bracket, with your chosen dictionary and clock. Create one from the Tournaments page and share the join code — free, no app, no sign-up.
