Rummy
The classic card game — draw, discard, and be first to meld your whole hand into sets and runs.
Rummy on FateRound plays by the everyone-knows-this rules: on your turn draw one card from the pile or the top of the discard, then discard one. Build sets (three or four cards of the same rank) and runs (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit). The moment your entire hand can be laid down as valid melds — usually with one card left to discard — you go out and win the round. If the clock runs out first, whoever is closest to going out wins — the player with the most cards that could still be laid down as valid melds; leftover deadwood (face cards 10, ace 1, numerics face value) breaks a tie.

Game rules & how to play
Objective
- Be the first player to lay your entire hand down as valid sets and runs.
- A set is 3 or 4 cards of the same rank (e.g. 7♠ 7♥ 7♦). A run is 3+ consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g. 4♣ 5♣ 6♣).
Setup
- 2–6 players join a room. Standard 52-card deck.
- 2 players are dealt 10 cards each; 3–4 players get 7 each; 5–6 players get 6 each.
- One card is turned face-up to start the discard pile; the rest form the draw pile.
How to play
- On your turn, draw one card — from the draw pile (face down) or the top of the discard pile (face up).
- Rearrange your hand and work toward complete sets and runs.
- Then discard one card face-up onto the discard pile to end your turn.
- When your whole hand can be laid down as valid sets and runs (often with one card left to discard), you go out and win the round.
- If the draw pile runs out, played cards (except the current top card) are reshuffled into a new draw pile — capped so the deck cannot cycle forever.
Card values (for scoring)
- Values matter when the round ends without a winner — lowest deadwood total wins.
- Ace — 1 point (aces are LOW; A-2-3 is a valid run, Q-K-A is not).
- Number cards 2–10 — face value.
- Jack, Queen, King — 10 points each.
Game length
- The host can set a per-player turn timer AND a whole-game clock — or turn either off.
- When your turn timer hits zero, the game auto-draws and auto-discards for you and moves on.
- First to lay everything down wins during normal play (no game clock).
- When the whole-game clock runs out, the winner is whoever is CLOSEST to going out — the player whose hand has the most cards that could be laid down as valid sets and runs. Ties are broken by fewest leftover deadwood, so a Rummy-ready hand beats one that just happens to hold cheap cards.

- A SET is 3 or 4 cards of the same rank in different suits (e.g. 7♠ 7♥ 7♦). A RUN is 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g. 4♣ 5♣ 6♣). Aces are low — A-2-3 is legal, Q-K-A is not.

- When your whole hand can be laid down as valid sets and runs — usually with one card left to discard — you go out. That ends the round and you win it.
- How does scoring work if the clock runs out?
- The winner is whoever is CLOSEST to going out — the player whose hand has the most cards that could be laid down as valid sets and runs. Ties are broken by fewest leftover deadwood (face cards 10, aces 1, numerics face value). This rewards a Rummy-ready hand over one that just happens to be holding cheap junk.
